‘No fear’: privilege and the navigation of hierarchy at an elite boys’ school in England

This article seeks to contribute the growing scholarship on elite schooling through an ethnographic study into distinct micro-practices of formation and reproduction privilege taking place within boys’ school in England. The focuses significance teacher-student hierarchy as a prism which view some socialisation processes at school. Ultimately, it shows that ‘flattened’ nature results students being given space learn how navigate relationships with those authority without fear or trepidation, thus contributing toward inculcation certain form embodied so called ‘ease.’ Furthermore, is both successes well failures students’ attempts hierarchies such settings.
